because of its’ superior wear resistance. This minimizes the cost and inconvenience of fret maintenance and replacement and in some cases may eliminate the expense and inconvenience altogether.

Denis and I inspect and select every piece of wood we use in every guitar we make. We now have an inventory of wood that our clients can choose from. We prefer finishes that protect the wood while highlighting its’ natural beauty as much as possible. We purchase bridges, machine heads, knobs and electronic components from established vendors that will meet the needs of working professionals for decades to come. We buy pickup parts and wire to make every pickup one at a time in our shop. Our pickups give every instrument we make a unique yet wide ranging identity.

I love making music, electric guitars, and amplifiers! Every instrument we build is a labour of love, not just a job. We are helping build a better world, one instrument and amp at a time. If you do what you love, you will love what you do. You will likely be happier and healthier, and it will show.

Finishing Guitar Necks with Osmo Oil Products by Josh House

Josh House is the well-known, highly respected luthier behind House Guitars, and also Canadian Luthier Supply.  Josh not only creates fine acoustic instruments, but is always happy to share information and has a number of online videos that detail various lutherie processes.

Greetings, fellow luthiers. Finishing remains one of the most challenging parts of any build, so I'm always on the lookout for finishes that are both easy to use and give a professional result. A few years ago I noticed some of my fellow builders using a product called Osmo Oil. At the time, I hadn't heard of it, and it was just starting to make its way into the Canadian market. It's now a popular finishing product for furniture, decks, and a wide variety of woodworking applications. It has become my go-to finish for satin-style necks. In these 2 video clips, I outline my finishing process for necks. The same process can also be used for finishing electric guitar bodies, and I know of some builders using it on acoustic guitars (although I don't myself). I hope you find these videos helpful and I'd be glad to answer any follow-up questions you may have.
